1. Ark Dimension
The Bible gives specific measurements for the Ark:
📏 Dimensions (Genesis 6:15)
- Length: 300 cubits (~450 feet or 137 meters)
- Width: 50 cubits (~75 feet or 23 meters)
- Height: 30 cubits (~45 feet or 14 meters)
It was built from gopher wood (exact type unknown) and sealed with pitch (a tar-like substance) to make it waterproof. The Ark had three decks, a door on the side, and a window. This design is similar to modern cargo ships, making it a stable vessel rather than a fast-moving one.
it took 120 years to make the ark. during this time:
- This was the time God gave people to repent while Noah built the Ark.
- Noah was possibly a prophet, warning people but being ignored.
- Jewish tradition calls Noah “a preacher of righteousness”, but people mocked him.
There was one door which only God could close or open it. meaning that God provides a way to heaven, the man Jesus our savior.
Noah had only access to the window, meaning that are the different denominations that we have of churches in the world today.
